Another Friend of Mine

Hello all. Thought I would introduce you all to Dusty. He is the one turning his head around to face the camera, and Yup your right....That is a Sink! LOL We used to lay in the bathroom sink in the summer time since it was always the coolest room in the house.

Now Dusty, he isn't your normal run of the mill lap cat. Not by all means! he was a very special cat. He had a mental problem called Bi-Polar Disorder. Somedays he may let you pet him others he would try and take your hand off. And if by chance you was lucky enough to catch him on a good day and start petting him the best thing to do was to either continue or stop all together. Because if you stopped and then tried to start petting him again, he would claw your hand, arm, what ever he could get ahold of up. He was kicked out of 2 Vets. offices and Mom & Dad was told to never bring him back, because he kept attacking everyone. I know what you may be asking...Did they get him "Fixed"? Well, Yea! It just didn't help him with his behavioral problems. Mom would say, "What do expect, he's Jennafers Cat!?". Yea, Dusty was a jerk most of the times and did A LOT of bad things, but other times he was just as nice as a little kitten.

He was with us ever since Jennafer got him for Christmas in 1999. But last year right before Christmas he got sick. Really sick! He quit eating and his stomach started swelling up, and was just laying on the floor Yawling. Mom called Dad at work and told him Dusty needed to go to the Vet. something was wrong with him. Dad came home as soon as he could can Mom, Dad, and Jennafer rushed him to the Vets. office. It was bad news, and I was going to lose someone else that I had grown to Love. Dusty had crystals in his bladder, and they had traveled into his uretha blocking his urine and causing the swelling. The Vet. told them he had no chance without surgery, and less then 20% with surgery. Either way he was going to be with Widdie. The Vet said it was the Cat Food that caused the crystals and that it should be changed so this didn't happen to any of us other Cats.

So, that's it of the old group. I am the only one left here with these young Kittens and Pups. An man are they ever driving me crazy!! But that's another Blog for another day, and until then Have A Grrreat Day Everyone...Bryan

A few words about my 4 legged Mom, Whiskey

  • Mood: Meow

This is my 4 legged Mommy, her name is Whiskey Doodles. She was there when I opened my eyes for the first time. My real feline Mommy was hit by a car, and Widdie as everyone called her raised me and my brother since she couldn't have puppies of her own. She was born december 14th, 1989 in Juarez, Mexico. Our family used to live in El Paso, texas where she was adopted from a per store there. She was an incrediable Mom. She understood 2 languages and Loved Everyone and Everything...especially bologna sandwiched...lol She was gotten for Jennafer for her Birthday, but was Loved by the whole family. She got parvo when she 7 weeks old and almost died. The Vet that Mom took her to told her to go home make her comfortable and dig her grave. But Mom never gave up on her and I for one am glad she never did. Mom gave her some medicine that was suppose to help her keep food and water down, but since parvo usually causes dehydration she wasn't thirsty. Mom have to force her to drink at times and got bit many times, but knew it was because Widdie didn't feel good and just wanted to sleep. Mom gave Widdie grape kool aid so she could at least have some flavor if it was going to be the last thing she tasted. An it must have worked because she started drinking it all by herself after a few days. Widdie started getting stronger and play a little at times. Her favorite game was Tug. She ripped quite a few shirt sleeves in her time...lol  But at least she was healthy and happy again, and the whole was happy too.

She got out one day when she was in season and got in the family way. She waddled when she walked because she was so short, since she was part Bassett Hound. But unforentally she lost all her puppies. She never did get to deliver a baby of her own, so Mom decided to go and get Widdie a friend. They got a kitten named Kaznar. He was a siamese kitten and destroyed everything in sight and drove Widdie crazy since she liked order. She was always chasing him and didn't like the way he played. So, Mom decided that Kaznar needed to be in a home where he could have more space to roam and play and possibly climb. But, Widdie still needed a friend. So, they started looking into getting her a puppy and actually found one, but Widdie didn't like him. Maybe because he was a boy they weren't sure. But every chance she got she would get him into trouble by chewing things up and destroying things. Bet your wondering how they found out it was her?!? Well, they actually caught her in the act of tearing things up and putting them in his box he stayed in. Yea, she was sneaky and smart. So, again they found a new home for the puppy. This time they decided to let Widdie pick out her friend. She choose a kitten they named Nitro, and a prefect match was made. They slept together, ate together, played together it was as if she had found her son. Then the sad day came when dad got out of the Military. He said only one was going back to Kentucky with them. Mom threw a fit. After all they went throught to find the perfect match for Widdie and he wanted to give him away...and actually did without telling Mom. An when she found out all hell broke lose! he had told one of the movers that he could take the cat home with him at the end of the day. NO, NO, NO!!! Mom said, "there is no way in hell you are giving away Widdie's son."  Her foot was down, so there they were. Mom, Dad, 2 kids, Widdie, Nitro, and a gerbil named Pedro that belonged to Josh all driving back from Texas to Kentucky. Dad thought it was going to be hell driving with a cat in the van running around, but it surprised him. Most of the time Nitro stayed on the dashboard trying to catch the headlights at night and just watching the cars go by in the daytime. Widdie stayed in Moms lap most of the way.  Unforentally 4 months after they got back from Texas Nitro was poisioned by antifreeze. The neighbor found him and brought him home, he collapsed in her front yard trying to get home. Dad, and Mom went outside first. They brought Widdie outside to say goodbye since there was nothing they could do for him. She kissed the top of his head and nudged him on the side of his face as if to say goodbye to her son.

Widdie raised 2 other kittens after that. The first Taffy, who later got out of the house and they couldn't find, and Harley. The Cat from HELL! She had to be the meanest cat on earth! After I was rescued and could run around and see she used to hid in Jennafer's and knock me down the stairs when ever I would walk by the door. Widdie caught her doing this one day and went after her. She would never hurt her, but Harley knew she could if she wanted to. So, Harley only tried doing this when Widdie wasn't around. But Harley did a Very Bad Thing. She attacked Jennafer and clawed her up for no reason. Jennafer was just trying to get to her bed and Harley was in the room first. She had claw marks on her legs and face and arms. Mom got angry and told Dad it was time for Harley to get a new home because she didn't want anyone else to get hurt. Meaning she was gunna skin a cat if she got her hands on her...lol I was happy no one was attacking me for no reason anymore. One of Mom's friends asked her if she would let Tracy, (my brother), go and live with them. Mom wasn't sure at first. After all she had been raising us since we was 2 weeks old. She told her friend that if she promissed to keep Tracy indoors and to make sure he sees the Vet regulary she would agree to it. But the last we heard Tracy's life was cut short by the same fate as our Mother's had been. He was let out and was hit by a car. Mom was not please especially when she came and asked her if she would let me go live with them. Mom has never talked to them since.

Widdie, and I lived happily together. We would play fetch and run throught the house and up and down the stairs. We Loved each other very much! She was after all my 4 legged Mommy! When I was being bad Mom would tell her to get her son out of what ever I was in, and I listened. At least to her...lol

About a year later Widdie got sick. She didn't play as often and was sleeping alot. Mom told Dad Widdie was sick. That she shouldn't be going like that. I didn't understand what they were talking about, but I did notice a lot of blood. Dad said it was because she was getting old, and she needed to rest more. he was going to go upstairs to lay down with Widdie and she collapsed and fell down the stairs. Dad then told Mom to call the Vet. He grabbed her and carried her out to the car. The vet again gave them bad news. My Mommy had signs of cancer. The Vet did surgery on her and told Mom, and Dad to just pray. Their prayers were answered twice for Widdie to get better. She survived parvo as a puppy and cancer as an older dog. We were back together again playing and running around. I had my Mommy back! She was full of spunk and wags, and plenty of kisses for me.

Then Mom, and Dad went through some hard times. They had to move into an apartment that didn't allow dogs. This crushed everyone. Widdie went to live with Grandma at Aunt Misty's. Mom said if she could have Widdie Doodles with she would still be with family, and Grandma loved Widdie. As a matter of fact she is the only animal she ever liked. Grandma had just had surgery on her knee and couldn't really get out so Widdie kept her company. Grandma and Aunt Misty's boyfriend Steve spoiled Widdie because she would sit up and wave at you when ever someone new would come into the room. I missed my Mommy. Since she had been gone Dusty, Jennafer's cat, used to be mean to me at times.

Then Mom, and Dad got a house. FINALLY!!! Mommy was coming home!!! I was happy to see her, but she seemed different. She looked older and more tired then she had when she first left. She was also alot bigger. It was a lot harder for her to get around, and all she wanted to do was sleep. She didn't play with me anymore, and everyone was starting to worry about her. That summer Grandma passed away. I remember Mom was sad alot, and so was Widdie. After Grandma was laid to rest my Mommy passed away. Mom took her to the Vet and was crying. I knew something was very wrong! Before Mom left with Widdie she told I needed to say goodbye. I rubbed my face over my Mommy's and she looked at me and gave me a nudge. When Mom got back from the Vet Widdie was wrapped in a blanket. She is still with us though. Mom had her cremated and she is in a Whiskey decanter that sits on the desk above the computer. Mom still smiles when she see a picture of her, and I know she will forever be a part of me too.

I'll tell more some of the other Pets in our family again soon. Bryban

Hello...Purrrrr

  • Mood: Purrr-fectly Content

Hello everyone my name is Bryan White Epperson. I am 7 years young, and my Mommas little BabyBoy. In this journal I will take you on a tour of my Family's pets. The one I have at the top of my Journal is of me and my adopted Mommy Whiskey.

I lost my real Mommy when I was just 2 weeks old when she was hit by a car. There was 5 of us but sadly only 2 survived to be recued by Staci. My brother, (Tracy Lawrence), and I didn't even have our eyes open when we were found. So, the first one I saw was Whiskey and Staci. Unforentally I lost my adopted Mommy Whiskey 2 and a half years ago when she had a stroke. I took this very hard and went into a depression and quit playing and even eating at times. I got so sick that I eventually started losing my hair in clumps. But I am adjusting and getting better. I recently lost another part of my family and will update on that in a different entry. There are alot of us to get to know and I will introduce you to most of them in the coming weeks. Just thought You Might like to get to know a lil about me first. Also if your wondering about my name and how I got it...The weekend before I was saved My Mommy and my Mean Sister went to a Bryan White concert and thats where my name came from. I'm going to Paws for now. I'll write more about my family again soon...Bryan
